ImageDaylight Savings Time ends November 4th, and it’s the perfect time to replace your smoke detector’s battery. A great way to ensure your smoke alarm is always ready is to change the batteries when you reset your clocks in the spring and fall. With cooler weather quickly closing in, you should also check your carbon monoxide alarms to ensure they also have fresh batteries and are in good working order. The cost of a 9 volt battery is nothing compared to the safety of your family this winter.

The Zion Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the 4th Annual Crab Fest on Saturday, September 22nd beginning at 9:30 in the morning and ending at 2:30. This extremely popular fundraiser has become a local favorite. Don't risk missing out on your order of #1 male crabs cooked and perfectly seasoned ready to eat. The last day to pre-order is September 17th. Contact Auxilliary President Cathy Dennison at 434-589-6993 to place your order. There will be a limited supply of extra crabs, but will likely sell out early. The ATV Raffle drawing will also take place on the 22nd at around 3pm.

Prices for the crabs are as follows:

  • Bushel $105
  • Half-Bushel $62
  • Dozen $35

Tables will be set up at the station in case you have the urge to dive into your crabs before you get home. This event is fun for the whole family and supports our growing department with additional funds to purchase needed emergency equipment.
